Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn is where I go to think. I found her on a snowy day — arms open, face to the sky — and this time I was reminded that I don't always need to. The grid in the background is the transfer grid I use to move a sketch to canvas. I usually paint over it. But sometimes a feeling comes on so strong there's no time left to make things pretty. You just have to drop everything and be in it.
