...This is my neighborhood — South Slope, Brooklyn — being swiftly and inelegantly gentrified against its will. That scaffolding held a broken-down industrial sign that's probably gone now, or will be soon. I photographed it on a cold day when the clouds were doing something I'd never quite seen before: offset, vibrating, twitching with the cold. There's something I love about these in-between moments in a place — before everything is smoothed over and made pretty for someone else. I wanted to hold onto it. I feel lucky to have caught it when I did.
